Atherton Chapter was consecrated at the Masonic Rooms, Gas Street, Leigh on 21st November 1944. The Mother Chapter was the Marquis of Lorne No 1354 and the Chapter was to be attached to the Atherton Lodge No 4488 and meet at the Masonic Rooms, Atherton.

In 1944 the annual subscription was set at £1.10s.0d (£1.50) and the current subscription is £15.00.

The Chapter moved to Leigh Masonic Hall with effect from Monday 2nd October 1967. In June 1968 it was

agreed that the Chapter equipment be combined with that of the Marquis of Lorne and the Chapter of Truth.

The number of members rapidly rose to 60, a figure which is still true today. Around 26 members along with 10 visitors regularly attend each meeting.
